Listen to what our researchers and collaborators have to say about our efforts to provide sustainable, renewable, biomass energy sources. Our videos have been funded by projects through the USDA-NIFA, US DOE Biomass Research & Development Initiative (BRDI) and the National Science Foundation’s Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR).

Partnering with OSU’s Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, are: the Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation, Idaho National Laboratory, AGCO Industries, and Stinger, Inc. The Principal Investigator for this BRDI project is Ray Huhnke, Director of OSU’s Biobased Products and Energy Center.

Videos are coordinated by Ray Huhnke and Amanda Erichsen, OSU Biobased Products and Energy Center. Video production was conducted by Craig Woods, OSU Agricultural Communication Services.

Biomass Research & Development Initiative (BRDI)

An overview of the research being conducted at Oklahoma State University and partnering institutions via the USDA-NIFA, US DOE Biomass Research and Development Initiative (BRDI) titled “Sustainable Feedstock Production Supply Systems to Support Cellulosic Biorefinery Industries”.

Research activities discussed include feedstocks production, biomass supply logistics, and storage. Also included are preliminary findings on dual usage of switchgrass production for both livestock and biofuels.

BRDI Harvest Dates

Mike Buser discusses harvests dates of July, October, December and February to provide a year-round supply for biomass production. This research is part of the Biomass Research and Development Initiative (BRDI) at Oklahoma State University. Mike Buser is an Associate Professor and Bioenergy Machinery Engineer leading the logistics research for this project from OSU’s Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering.
