Free nematode testing

Producers are encouraged to bring soil samples to the event to be tested for nematodes. The following are instructions for doing so:

  • Collect at least 20 soil cores from each field in areas showing symptoms (about 2 pints total)
  • Sample soil from a depth of 6 to 8 inches
  • Take cores randomly across the affected area
  • Mix the soil thoroughly, then place it in a plastic bag and seal it to prevent it from drying
  • Refrigerate samples until the field day.
