Register for the Lahoma Wheat Field Day on May 15

Oklahoma State University Agriculture will host its annual Lahoma Wheat Field Day in May for producers to learn about wheat varieties, breeding, fertility, disease and pest and weed management.

OSU Agriculture Field Days are educational events presented by OSU Ag Research and OSU Extension that share research-based information and resources with Oklahomans. Field days showcase current agricultural research and relevant best practices through presentations, tours, hands-on workshops and discussions. Research at OSU locations across the state is often designed for specific applications based on region.

  • When: 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on May 15
  • Where: North Central Research Station, 1 mile west of Lahoma on Highway 60

Following OSU updates form President Jim Hess and OSU Agriculture updates from Jayson Lusk and Scott Sensemen, the following will be the tour presentation schedule:

  • Wheat variety trial and wheat rover demonstration – Amanda Silva, associate professor and Extension specialist, small grains
  • Wheat seeding rate research – Amanda Silva
  • Wheat disease update and management – Meriem Aoun, assistant professor and small grains pathologist
  • Wheat improvement breeding for the north central region – Brett Carver, regents professor and wheat genetics chair
  • Cultural and fall-applied chemical weed control in wheat – Liberty Galvin, assistant professor and Extension specialist, weed science
  • CoAxium wheat genetics – Brett Carver; Jeff Wright, Oklahoma Foundation Seed Stocks coordinator of production operations

Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. Registration closes on May 11. Pre-registration is preferred, but on-site registration is welcome. For more information, visit the Field Days website.
