NFL playoff games set on OSU turfgrass; expert available as media source

The NFL’s final two playoff games this Sunday, Jan. 29 will be played on football fields with a base of turfgrassdeveloped at Oklahoma State University.

 

The Philadelphia Eagles will host the Cincinnati Bengals at Lincoln Financial Field, which is planted with a base of OSU’s Tahoma 31 and overseeded with ryegrass.

 

At Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium, the Chiefs will face off against the San Francisco 49ers on a turfgrass base of the NorthBridge variety,also developed at OSU. The program is housed within the horticulture and landscape architecture department in OSU’s Ferguson College of Agriculture.

 

Parts of Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa were also seeded in OSU turfgrass varieties during the PGA Championship last May.
